Under new leadership of the non-profit RUNVAN, the event has renamed to ‘The Jerome Classic‘ in 2024 to also incorporate the outstanding accomplishments of Harry Jerome’s sibling, Valerie Jerome, another Canadian Olympian, and their grandfather, John Armstrong Howard, Canada’s first Black Olympic athlete. This is an exciting time to join in! Continuing the efforts of the Achilles International Track & Field Society, the annual Jerome Classic proudly honours the legacy of the Jerome family, reminding generations to pursue excellence, demonstrate sportsmanship and assist with community and youth development. Sous la nouvelle direction de l’organisation à but non lucratif RUNVAN, l’événement a été rebaptisé “The Jerome Classic” en 2024 afin d’incorporer également les réalisations exceptionnelles de la sœur d’Harry Jerome, Valerie Jerome, une autre athlète olympique canadienne, et de leur grand-père, John Armstrong Howard, le premier athlète olympique noir du Canada. C’est une période passionnante à laquelle il faut participer !
