Canadian Track & Field Paralympians to Watch at the 2025 Jerome Classic
4:27PM: Women Seated Shot Put F33 (Para Wheelchair) – Julia Hanes
Be inspired by local Vancouver physician-resident and Paralympian, Dr. Julia Hanes, in the Woman Seated Shot Put event. She broke her own Canadian record three times to win the F33 women’s shot put event at the 2024 Canadian Track and Field Championships. She believes that sport has played an important role in her healing process.
5:34PM: Men’s Shot Put (Open) – Greg Stewart
Greg Stewart is a two-time Paralympic gold medalist specializing in shot put. Seven foot two Stewart won gold medals in the 2020 Tokyo and 2024 Paris Paralympics with impressive throws of 16.75m and 16.38m respectively.
6:23PM: Men’s 1500 Meters (National B) – Nate Tucker
From Victoria, BC, Nate Tucker will be competing in the 1500m after winning gold in the T38 1500m at his first Paralympic Games in Tokyo. Tucker won gold again at the 2023 World Para Athletics Championships in Paris. His father, Todd Riech. competed at the 1996 Olympics in javelin for the USA and his mother, Ardin Tucker, was a pole vaulter for Canada.
7:18PM: Women’s Shot Put (Open) – Charlotte Bolton
At only 21 years old, Charlotte Bolton is a two-time Paralympian who holds all three Canadian records in the F41 throwing events: shot put (9.05 metres), javelin (20.33 metres), and discus (29.65 metres). Witness her excellence in action at both the Women’s Discus (Open) at 11:30AM at Langley & McLeod Athletic Park and the Women’s Shot Put (Open) event at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, BC.
7:20PM: W 400M (Open) – Amanda Rummery
Amanda Rummery will be competing and showcasing her prowess in the W 400m in the T47 category. In 2024, she broke the Paralympic standard in the 400m with a Canadian record of 57.99 at a competition in California, ranking her second in the world. Paralympian Amanda Rummery describes herself on Instagram (@amandarummery) as “Body 9/10 Personality 20/10 Arms 1/2”.
