THE JEROME CLASSIC
LEGACY

2024

At the 2024 Jerome Classic in Burnaby, several top-tier athletes rewrote the meet record books across both track and field events. Kieran Lumb delivered a stunning run in the men’s 1,500 m, setting a new Jerome Classic record of 3:34.53, which was a major highlight of the meet. Thomas Fafard followed with a similarly impressive performance in the men’s 3,000 m, breaking the meet’s previous mark by finishing in 7:41.20.

On the women’s side, Olympic-caliber distance runner Gabriela DeBues‑Stafford shattered the meet record in the 5,000 m, crossing the line in 15:17.48. In the throws, Rajindra Campbell dominated the men’s shot put with a massive 21.54 m throw, establishing a new benchmark for the Jerome Classic.

These performances illustrated how the 2024 edition of the Jerome Classic was not just a showcase for high-level competition, but a platform for athletes to make major breakthroughs — pushing the history of the meet forward and setting clear signals for their ambitions in the season to come.
